Phoenix ESU is an action packed Explorer Scout Unit based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. The unit is run mainly by its own members with a wide variety of fun, daring and adventurous activities throughout the year.
We are active in local community, supporting local events such as Kenilworth Lions Grand Show, Two Castles Run, Kenilworth Carnival and others throughout the year.
Not only do we support local scouting events but in the past few years we have entered successful teams into the Sedan Chair Rally (a national Explorer competition) and the Pineapple Cup (a county explorer challenge)
Every year there are several weekend camps. Our main summer expedition is a full week’s camp, usually the last week of the summer holidays. During this camp we pass on roles and responsibilities in the unit and also have small group expeditions and patrol hikes. We sometimes go abroad having previously visited Sweden, Holland and France.
There are a number of fundraising activities throughout the year to subsidise the cost of camps; every explorer is expected to participate as much as possible.
The Unit meets most Thursdays at Castle Sixth Form Centre, 7.30pm till 9.30pm. Occasionally we meet elsewhere.

Castle Lake ESU
Castle Lake ESU was established in April 2014 to spread the growing number of Explorers in Kenilworth across two nights. The Unit meets most Wednesdays at Castle Sixth Form Centre, 7.30pm till 9.30pm.
