Join the Adventure

Kenilworth Scouts offers young people the opportunity to join Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network in the Kenilworth District.

We welcome adult volunteers as well as uniformed leaders - if you think you could help contact us.

Squirrel Scouts are the newest section of the Scouting family. Squirrels will gather to grow and learn their way through lots of different games and activities.

Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to - and they have lots of fun along the way.  Squirrel Scouts is for 4 to 6 year olds.

Douglas Faulconbridge has been involved with Scouting in Kenilworth since 1981, initially at Waverley, and prior to that held several roles within Coventry. He was ADC Cub Scouts for six years in Kenilworth supporting this section and running successful events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Valentine's Disco. He is Group Chairman at the 5th Kenilworth Group and has been heavily involved in the setting up of Kenilworth's first Squirrel Drey. He also attended the 2019 World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia as a leader with one of the Warwickshire Units. He will be joining the Warwickshire County International trip to Belize in 2024 as one of the Leaders, alongside nearly 100 participants from across Warwickshire.

Stuart Heaton has been involved as a leader since 1988 and is currently a Leader at Waverley Scout Group, prior to which he was District Commissioner for six years during which time he opened both a new Explorer Scout Unit and an additional Scout Group within the District. Stuart supports grassroots Scouting through events like the annual District Summer Camp which provides the opportunity for all young people in the District to take part in a camp away.

5th Kenilworth Scouts visited Brownsea Island on 29 April until 1 May – it was a time for adventure, a time for reflection and a time for building on friendships in a unique location. Brownsea Island is as near to a perfect Scouting experience that you could wish for.  16 Scouts enjoyed activities over the weekend such as paddle boarding, kayaking, camp craft, nature trails as well as exploring the island to skim stones and beach comb.  We even followed in the footsteps of Baden-Powell and camped on his actual 1907 camp field.

‘Scouting is a character factory’ ....... not our words, but those of our lead volunteer, Chief Scout Bear Grylls.

Are you ready to inspire a generation of young people to experience fun, friendship and real adventure?

The opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible - think of something you’d like to do and chances are it’s just what we need!
